About our Pranayama

Yogic breathing, taught properly.

Mindful yogic breathing that helps reduce stress, improve focus, boost energy, and support overall well-being.

Pranayama, the yogic science of conscious breathing, is traditionally regarded as a powerful means of purifying the nadis—the subtle channels through which prana, or vital energy, flows. Through regulated inhalation, exhalation, and breath retention, Pranayama helps remove energetic blockages and harmonize the flow of prana through the Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna nadis. This purification is often described as cleansing the subtle influence of the five tattwas (elements): Prithvi (earth), Jala (water), Agni (fire), Vayu (air), and Akasha (ether). By balancing these elemental forces, Pranayama promotes greater physical stability, emotional equilibrium, mental clarity, and inner awareness.

In yogic tradition, balanced pranic flow prepares the subtle body for the activation and harmonization of the chakras. As the nadis become purified and prana flows more freely, the chakras—from Muladhara (Root) to Sahasrara (Crown)—are believed to become progressively awakened and balanced. Specific Pranayama practices may support particular energetic qualities, while alternate-nostril breathing is especially associated with balancing Ida and Pingala. With regular, disciplined practice, Pranayama can deepen concentration, calm the nervous system, and create an inner state conducive to meditation, self-awareness, and spiritual growth. Thus, it serves as an important bridge between breath, prana, the subtle elements, and higher states of consciousness.
